Day 1/Part 2- The Farmer's Market Finds

I headed down to Eastern Market in Detroit this morning hauling my little doggie in a messenger bag and my empty suitcase to fill with fruits and veggies. I took $60 out of the bank and headed in to the shed's. I have been here many times before, so I knew the drill and scoped out all the stands before making my purchases. Here is what I got:

3 containers of blueberries
1 case of apples
2 large containers of strawberries
2 pineapple
8 cucumber
16 carrots
8 pears
20 lemons
1 lb. ginger
8 bunches of kale
5 lb. spinach
9 beets

Drumroll please...grand total: $44

Based on what I know about juicing and my research, this will last me a week. Tada!

I decided to take the before and after type photos to see what I look like (i.e. get real with me) and to compare at the end. I am not super excited about posting them, but I might feel better about it later. So, for now...no photos.

I tried these juice recipes from this website when I got home:

I had the Classic Green Juice and followed it up with the Pink Lady. Both were delicious and filling. I feel great about the challenge, however I am already experiencing the detox headaches that I expected and the whacky cravings for foods even though I am not hungry. I am going to be excited when I am eating for hunger and not out of boredom, and to know what that real hunger feelings actually feels like.

The documentary that helped jump start me was Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, it's on Netflix.com

There are so many I have watched and taken information from, this one pushed me over the edge.

EXCITED!
